This month we are proud to recognize Janet Lyon, one of our dedicated Food Service Workers and truly a cook extraordinaire, as our Featured Staff Member for April.
Janet has been part of our team since 1990, bringing decades of commitment, warmth, and home-style cooking to our kitchen. Before joining the workforce, Janet spent many years working at home and on the farm, helping raise tobacco and her children. When her youngest child turned 16, Janet decided it was time to find something new to do— little did she know she would become such an important part of our community.
Janet has always loved cooking home-cooked meals, and that passion shows in every dish she prepares. Even though the food service department prepares meals for over 100 people each time, Janet makes sure the food still has that comforting, homemade touch. One of the highlights of the week for both residents and staff is Friday’s meal, when Janet cooks her famous soup beans, fried potatoes, and cornbread. It’s a favorite that many look forward to and a perfect example of the care she puts into her cooking.
According to Joyce, our Food Service Manager, “Janet is reliable and dependable. All the residents and staff adore her.”
We are grateful for Janet’s many years of hard work, dedication, and the comfort she brings through her cooking. Please join us in thanking Janet Lyon for everything she does for our residents, staff, and community.
