National Nursing Home Week we chose the theme A Train Trip Out West. We started out the week with the reading of the Proclamation by Mayor Pete Shepherd and the balloon release. For our train trip our first stop on our adventure out west was to Tennessee. While in Tennessee we listened to some old-time country music, dressed in our Dolly Parton best or country western gear and had hot buttered biscuits with jam and apple butter. Our second stop of the week was in Texas. We wore our boots and our two-gallon hats. Residents enjoyed some dancing in the halls as well as some staff and some good ole Texas chili. Up next was Hollywood with all the glitz and glamor it brings. Residents enjoyed the iconic ice cream truck music and some ice cream sundaes with the works. All aboard to the corn fields of Nebraska. While in Nebraska we enjoyed some of there fresh produce with a country vegetable plate consisting of garden tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, new potatoes, onions and cornbread. Yum Yum. We finished up our adventure in the good ole bluegrass state Kentucky!! Coming Home! As we pulled into the station, we were embraced by the smell of the down-home country cooking of gravy and biscuits. Whether you enjoy the Derby, UK basketball or maybe some good country cooking. We had it all as we returned home to the grand state of Kentucky! What an adventure we had!!
