Sometimes the simplest questions create the biggest conversations!
Recently, residents and staff at Salyersville Nursing & Rehabilitation were asked a lighthearted “Question of the Day”:
Is a hotdog in a bun considered a sandwich?
What started as a silly question quickly turned into one of the most entertaining debates we’ve had in quite some time. Hallways, dining tables, nurses’ stations, and activity rooms were buzzing with opinions as everyone eagerly defended their side.
A total of 103 residents and staff members participated in the poll, and the results were surprisingly decisive:
38% said YES – A hotdog is a sandwich because it’s meat served between bread.
62% said NO – A hotdog is something entirely unique and deserves its own category!
For those wondering what the official definition says, a sandwich is generally defined as “two or more slices of bread, or a split roll, having a filling between them.” By that definition, some participants argued that a hotdog certainly qualifies. Others insisted that hotdogs have their own special identity and simply can’t be grouped with traditional sandwiches.
The discussion led to plenty of laughter, friendly banter, and even a few passionate speeches on the subject. While no final verdict was reached, everyone agreed that sharing opinions and enjoying good conversation made for a wonderful day.
