Success Stories
Kiesha’s Corner:

In July of 2020, Salyersville Nursing and Rehabilitation lost one of its own in Kiesha Joseph. Kiesha was a caregiver here for several years and was loved among all that she befriended. She fulfilled her duties with more compassion, empathy, and love than most of the world shares.
Tragically, due to an underlying health condition, Kiesha passed away. Her mother, Jamie Lenne Jospeh, decided that Keisha’s light would not be extinguished. She, a healthcare professional herself, who exhibits all the same loving qualities as Kiesha, began the organization known as “Kiesha’s Corner.” This organization, through community donations and an outpouring of Facebook love, raised over $5,000.00 for our residents here at SNRC to enjoy Christmas and beyond. These funds were used to buy resident gifts, tools for dementia residents, as well as anything the residents desired.
The staff and residents at Salyersville were so touched by the generosity of Kiesha’s Corner, they decided to make a special place within their facility to also honor her. They are proud to call their new gathering lounge, “Keisha’s Corner” after her organization. This gathering space and the generosity of her organization allow Keisha’s light to shine on. They remind our residents of the love Kiesha had for them, a love that will live on forever. Once a member of the Salyersville Nursing family, ALWAYS a member!
A Restorative Success Story!
Betty C, resident of Salyersville Nursing and Rehab, admitted with a plan to work with therapy and regain her strength and mobility. Like so many others, Betty admitted under her insurance benefits. She worked with therapy each day and felt herself getting stronger, but soon received notice from her insurance that she had reached her “max potential for ambulation/mobility” and that they would no longer be covering the cost of her therapy. With this news, Betty thought her rehab was finished. She felt stronger than before, but still only walked a few steps to get in and out of her wheelchair. “At that point, I had given up. I had no hope. All I wanted to do was stay in the bed, as the insurance said this was it and I believed them.” What Betty didn’t know, was that her journey was still on the move. The Director of Nursing, Christy Allen, suggested that Betty would be the perfect candidate for Salyersville’s Restorative Program, and boy was she right!

A Note from the Family of Phyllis Mann:
Our family would like to express its’ sincere gratitude for everything your facility has done for our mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, Phyllis, throughout the past few years as well as today. Someone is always available to answer any questions or concerns we may have. One of us visits mom almost daily, so we see the care she is given and so appreciate everyone’s efforts. All departments bend over backwards to cater to her needs and are always doing things to make her feel special. That goes for the kitchen and activity staff, maintenance, janitorial, nurses, therapists, doctors, department heads and even Mr. Josh. Phyllis has grown very close to many of you and has come to feel as though she is at home. Before becoming totally disabled, we wanted to keep her home, but she knew best. She told us she was too sick to be at home and with all her illnesses, preferred to be close to medical professionals. Every time we as her daughters offer our advice, she quickly reminds us, “you all aren’t doctors.” All in all, she probably made the right decision as we feel Salyersville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has improved both the quality and longevity of her life. We pray that God will bless your facility and staff as you continue your mission to improve the lives of our sick and elderly population.
Sincerely grateful,
Jerry, Debbie, Jeff, Donna, Jeremy, and Abby
A Grandmother’s Story:
When Miss Phyllis was asked by the hospital where she wanted to go for rehab, she had one response, “With my grandson at Salyersville Nursing and Rehab. He’s the Administrator over there you know.” Phyllis knew that having her grandson overseeing her care meant that she would get the very best. What she didn’t know was that her grandson put that same great trust in his staff.
Joshua Calhoun, Administrator, knew his team of qualified nurses provide the best quality care in the area and work closely with Dr. Hardin to ensure all his patients’ needs are met. He knew that Salyersville Nursing and Rehab is one of the only facilities in the state of Kentucky to provide around the clock respiratory therapy coverage and that his team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists are second to none.
Miss Phyllis admitted to SNRC and began working with therapy the moment she rolled in the door. Each day she continues to get stronger and while she loves being at the facility with her grandson, plans to rehab and go back home. We wish Miss Phyllis the best of luck in her recovery and hope that you too, will entrust us with the care of YOUR loved one.
